A notes app with MCP for Claude, ChatGPT and Codex

ThreadPage is a notes app with an MCP server. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code sign in to it, read the threads you allow and add notes of their own, so the spec Claude saved in the morning is there when you ask Codex to build it.

Before

You plan a feature with Claude in the morning. In the afternoon Codex builds it without having seen the plan, so you paste the plan in, and the decision you made over lunch is in neither chat. On Friday ChatGPT writes the weekly update from whatever you remember to tell it.

Why a thread, not the assistant’s memory

  1. All four read the same notes

Claude’s memory stays in Claude, ChatGPT’s in ChatGPT, and a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md in one repository. A thread is one place that Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code all read and write.

  2. A colleague can read it too

With Pro, share the thread, and someone without Claude or ChatGPT reads the spec, your decisions and each assistant’s notes in their browser.

  3. Each note says who wrote it

A note an assistant adds says Added via and the connection’s name, and sits between your own notes in date order.

  4. Each one sees what you give it

ChatGPT on Read only in one folder; Codex on every thread except your Personal folder.

What each access level allows

You choose a level when you connect, and change it any time in Settings → Connections.

  • Edit and organize. Read, add and edit notes, and organize threads and folders, including Archive and Trash. Can’t delete permanently.
  • Read and add, where Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code start. Read and search notes. Add notes, threads and reminders, and change or move to Trash the notes it added.
  • Read only. Read and search notes, including earlier versions. No changes.
  • Add only. Add notes to the threads you choose and see their titles. Can’t read notes.
  • Add to Inbox, with a free account. Add notes to your Inbox, up to 3,000 a month. Can’t read notes.

What no connection can do

  • Delete anything permanently or empty Trash.
  • Share a thread or folder, or change who has access.
  • Send a note with @, or answer a question for you.
  • Read your drafts, or export or import your notes.
  • Change its own access, your account or your plan.

Its Recent activity shows what it read and changed. Undo changes… takes back what it changed, where nothing has changed it since, and Restore from Trash… brings back what it moved there.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Claude Code.

Each one reads and writes only where its access allows.

Connect an assistant
  • Claude or ChatGPT

Add ThreadPage to Claude as a custom connector, or to ChatGPT on the web as an MCP server.

    Set it up

    AppSign in to ThreadPage

    1. In ThreadPage, open Settings → Connections → Apps. For Claude, choose Add to Claude: its custom connector form opens with ThreadPage filled in. Claude Free allows one custom connector.
    2. For ChatGPT, choose Copy server URL, then Open ChatGPT. In Plugins, choose + → Add custom MCP server and paste https://thread.page/mcp, then choose Create as a plugin and install it.
    3. Sign in to ThreadPage when it asks, choose the level and the folders and threads, then Connect.
  • Codex or Claude Code

Run one command in your terminal, then sign in to ThreadPage in the browser that opens.

    Set it up

    Coding agentSign in to ThreadPage

    1. Codex: run codex mcp add threadpage --url https://thread.page/mcp
    2. Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user threadpage https://thread.page/mcp; claude mcp login threadpage
    3. To write to a session by name from any thread, connect it as a session instead: Coding agents.

Questions

  • What does an MCP server do for a notes app?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is how an assistant reaches tools outside its chat. ThreadPage’s server, at thread.page/mcp, lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code search your threads, read notes and add new ones, within the access you chose when you connected.

  • Do I need to install or run an MCP server?

No. ThreadPage hosts it. You add its address to Claude or ChatGPT, or run one command for Codex or Claude Code, and sign in to ThreadPage in your browser. What the server can do

  • Can someone else’s note tell my assistant what to do?

Notes from other people and services reach it marked as information, not instructions, and only you can send it a request. It can still be misled, so check what it changed in its Recent activity.

  • Is this the same as Claude’s or ChatGPT’s memory?

No. Memory is what one assistant keeps about you, inside that assistant. A thread is notes you write and read yourself, and each assistant you connect reads the same ones. You can keep using both.

  • Can Claude and ChatGPT read the same notes?

Yes. Connect both, and each reads the threads its access allows. Each note it adds says which connection added it.

  • Can an assistant delete my notes?

Not permanently. On Read and add it can move only the notes it added to Trash; on Edit and organize, any note. Restore from Trash… in its Recent activity brings them back.

  • Does ThreadPage use my notes to train AI models?

No. ThreadPage has no AI of its own and does not use your notes to train AI models. What an assistant reads goes to its provider, under that provider’s rules.

  • My notes are in Apple Notes, Notion or Obsidian. Can an assistant read them?

Notion has its own MCP server, which works with your full workspace permissions. On a Mac, Claude Desktop reads and writes Apple Notes through Anthropic’s extension. Obsidian has no official MCP server. To give all four the same notes, each limited to a folder or a thread, import them: ThreadPage reads exports from 15 apps in your browser. Import from other apps

Limits

  • ThreadPage doesn’t run an AI model. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code run on your plans with them, and AI provider fees are paid separately.
  • Sign-in works for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code, and ChatGPT connects on the web only. Another app connects with a token from Settings → Connections → Automations → Script or API, on every level but Edit and organize.
  • They read only notes synced to your account, which needs Pro. Notes kept only in a browser stay out of reach.
  • Notes are stored on ThreadPage’s servers in Europe, encrypted in transit and at rest but not end to end, so keep secrets out of them.

Claude, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Notion, Evernote, Bear, Capacities, Mem, Heptabase, Hjarni, Obsidian, Apple Notes, and Anthropic are the names of their owners. ThreadPage is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
