Where to send a notice

What your notice must contain
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)(A), a notice contains:
- Your physical or electronic signature, or that of a person authorised to act for the copyright owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the material you claim infringes, and information that lets us find it: the address of the shared place (for example thread.page/s/…) and which note or image.
- Information that lets us contact you, such as your postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the copyright owner.
We cannot find material in a private workspace without an address. A notice that does not substantially contain these elements may not be acted on; if it contains enough for us to follow up, we will ask you to complete it.
For Community, give the address of the post (for example thread.page/community/12) and, for a comment, which comment.
What we do
We remove the material or disable access to it promptly. This can include turning off a shared link. We tell the account holder what we did and send them a copy of your notice, including your name and contact details. We keep notices and our response for three years.
In Community, we remove the post or comment, which is replaced by a notice that the team removed it, and we send its author a copy of your notice, including your name and contact details. If the author believes the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, they can reply to that email and tell us why. A person reviews the reply as a counter-notice and tells them what we decide.
Counter-notice
If material you stored was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to the same address with:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice.
We send your counter-notice to the person who sent the notice. Unless that person tells us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action against you, we restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we receive your counter-notice.
Repeat infringers
We end, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. See section 19 of our Terms of Service.
False notices
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, can be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees.
