# Planned in Claude, built by Claude Code

Work the feature out with Claude or ChatGPT, then have it save the spec as a note. @shop builds from that note and @review checks the branch against it.

## At a glance

- **For:** Developers who plan in a chat and build with Claude Code or Codex.
- **You keep:** A thread per feature, with the spec as its first note.
- **Comes in:**
  - The spec, added by Claude or ChatGPT from your chat.
  - Replies from your sessions, checked against it.
- **The moment:** At 19:56 Codex has checked the pull request against the spec note and found the one criterion that fails, down to the line.
- **Plan:** Pro · From USD 7.99 a month. 14 days free, no card.

## Before

You spend an evening with Claude working out what gift cards should do, and the plan stays in that chat. The next day you paste a summary into Claude Code, and it builds from the summary. Codex reviews the branch without ever seeing the plan.

## Why a thread, not a plan pasted between chats

### The spec is a note you can edit

Claude or ChatGPT adds it through the app. You can change it like any note, and its version history keeps what it said before.

### Every session reads the same text

@shop builds from the note and @review checks the branch against the same note. Nobody works from a pasted summary.

### A change of scope has a date

A line you add under the spec on Monday is there when a session reads the thread on Thursday.

## A thread, over time

Your workspace starts empty.

*Over breakfast you think it through with Claude, and it saves the spec as a note.*

Spec: gift cards, first version. Cards of €25, €50 and €100, paid for like any order; the customer gets a code by email.

- [ ] Buy a card at /gift-cards
- [ ] Pay at checkout with a code, in part or in full
- [ ] Keep the balance on the code after a part payment
- [ ] Codes expire two years after purchase

Out of scope: plastic cards, refunds onto a card.

*Your addition, under the spec. Claude can change only the notes it added.*

**You** · 08:40

One more for the spec: the receipt should show what’s left on the card.

*In the evening, one note to the session.*

@shop build gift cards from the spec note above, and the line I added under it. Ask before you change anything they don’t cover.

*It reports against the spec, line by line.*

**From @shop** · 19:43

Done on gift-cards, pull request #97.

| Criterion | State |
|---|---|
| Buy a card | Done |
| Pay with a code | Done |
| Balance after a part payment | Done |
| Expiry | Done |
| Balance on the receipt | Done |

The spec doesn’t say what happens when an order paid with a code is refunded. I left that alone.

*Codex checks the branch against the same note.*

@review check pull request #97 against the spec note, criterion by criterion.

*The review names the gap and the line.*

**From @review** · 19:56

Four of five hold. Expiry counts two years from today instead of from the purchase: gift_cards.py, line 41.

*Your call, back to the session that wrote it.*

**You** · 20:02

To **@shop** Working

@shop expiry runs from the purchase date. Fix it in #97.

## You write. Your sessions reply.

Each session reaches only the notes you give it access to.

### The spec, saved from your chat

When the plan is settled, ask Claude or ChatGPT to add it to the feature’s thread as a note.

#### Set it up

App Read and add Selected folders and threads: Shop

1. In **Settings → Connections → Apps**, choose **Connect an app** → **Claude app** or **ChatGPT app** and follow its steps. On ThreadPage’s consent page, choose **Customize access** → **Selected folders and threads** → **Shop**.
2. Ask: “Add this as the spec in Gift cards in ThreadPage: what it must do as a checklist, and what’s out of scope.”

### Connect your sessions

Install the plugin once per computer. Then connect every session you run, each under its own name.

#### Set it up

Coding agent

1. **Claude Code** Once per computer, install the ThreadPage plugin in your terminal.

   ```bash
   claude plugin install threadpage --marketplace ThreadPage/threadpage-companion
   ```

2. Quit Claude Code, then reopen your conversation with ThreadPage.

   ```bash
   claude --continue
   ```

   Connect it in the session. It suggests a name from your project folder.

   ```bash
   /threadpage:connect
   ```

3. **Codex** Once per computer, install the ThreadPage plugin in your terminal.

   ```bash
   codex plugin marketplace add ThreadPage/threadpage-companion && codex plugin add threadpage@threadpage
   ```

4. Quit Codex, then resume the same conversation.

   ```bash
   codex resume
   ```

   A new Codex session needs one message first. Your browser opens; check the name and access there, then choose Connect.

   ```bash
   $threadpage:connect
   ```

5. Your browser opens ThreadPage. The name comes from the project folder; change it if you like, then choose **Connect**. To connect another session, run the connect command in it.

## Also

Claude Code can plan in its own plan mode, and a SPEC.md in the repository works when every session runs in that repository. Use a thread when the plan starts in a chat app, or when the review and your changes of scope should sit next to it.

## Limits

- With Read and add, Claude or ChatGPT changes only the notes it added.
- A session has to be open on a computer that stays awake. A request waits up to seven days for it.
- Permission prompts appear in your terminal, as they always do. If one holds up your request, the note says Waiting for your approval and names the computer.
- Notes and replies are stored on ThreadPage’s servers and aren’t end-to-end encrypted, so keep secrets out of them.

Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, and Codex are the names of their owners. ThreadPage is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
