## Before

By 11:00 you’ve touched five streams: a customer survey, the website copy review, a trade show, Leo’s first week and a supplier who charged you twice. Each interruption wipes what you were holding. The breadcrumbs are a sticky note, a half-written email and a file called notes-final.docx, and the first twenty minutes back go on finding them.

## Why a thread, not a sticky note and a draft email

### The last note says what’s next

End with one line: stopped here, next. When you open the thread again, that line is the last thing in it.

### Switching is cheap

List shows every stream with its last line, Columns puts two or three side by side, and you expand one to read in Focus.

### Waiting says who has it

Set a stream to Waiting while it’s with someone else, and the last note says on whom.

### The reasons stay

Each decision is a dated note, and Search finds it by its #tag months later, archived or not.
