# Handing off before you leave

Going on leave? @Claude reads the client’s folder and drafts a handoff with every promised date. You fix what it got wrong and share the folder with Nora.

## At a glance

- **For:** Freelancers, consultants and small studios passing a client to a colleague.
- **You keep:** A folder per client, and one thread for the handoff.
- **Comes in:**
  - A draft handoff from @Claude or @GPT, on your own API key.
  - Your colleague’s notes, once you share the folder.
- **The moment:** On Monday Nora reads the handoff and the threads behind it, and writes to Marta without calling you.
- **Plan:** Pro · From USD 7.99 a month. 14 days free, no card. Only the one who shares needs Pro. Nora joins free.

## Before

You’re away for three weeks from Monday, and Nora takes over the bakery’s website. On Friday afternoon you try to write it all down: the launch date, the gift cards, what Marta was promised and when. Half of it is in your head and the rest is in a month of emails. On Monday, your first day off, Nora calls.

## Why a thread, not a handoff document

### The draft comes from the record

@Claude reads every thread in the folder and lists what’s done, what’s next and each promised date, with the note it came from.

### You correct it before anyone reads it

It answers in a thread only you see. Fix it there, then share the folder.

### Nora gets the history too

She reads the handoff and every note behind it. New marks what changed since she last looked.

### Handoff to Nora

Lumen Bakery · Active · Shared · Nora

#### Fri 30 Oct

*Friday afternoon, in a thread only you can see.*

**You** · 15:10

To **@Claude** Replied in 50 sec

@Claude read the Lumen Bakery folder and write Nora a handoff: what state each thread is in, what Marta is waiting for, and every date we promised.

*It reads the folder and answers in the thread. Only you see which 31 notes it read.*

**From @Claude** · 15:11

Handoff for Nora, from the threads in Lumen Bakery.

| Thread | Now | Next |
|---|---|---|
| Website, with Marta | Shop pages in review | Launch on 18 December |
| Online orders: options | Plug-in chosen | Card fees: no answer since 5 October |
| Website, internal | Update sent on 23 October | Next update on Friday |

Promised with a date: the menu page by 13 November (your note of 9 October).

*You correct what it couldn’t know, then share the folder.*

**You** · 15:30

Fixed one line: the menu page is now due 20 November; Marta agreed on the phone. Shared the folder with Nora at Can edit.

#### Mon 2 Nov

*On Monday Nora starts from the handoff, with the history behind it.*

**Nora** · 09:12

Read the handoff and the Website thread from the start. I’ll write to Marta today about the menu page.

## You ask. The answer is a note.

Each one reads and writes only where its access allows.

### The handoff, drafted

Add your Anthropic or OpenAI API key once. Then write to @Claude in a thread only you see.

#### Set it up

AI model Your Anthropic or OpenAI API key Pro with Sync

1. In **Settings → Connections**, open **AI models**, choose **Claude** or **GPT**, paste an API key from Anthropic or OpenAI and choose **Connect**. AI models need Pro with Sync turned on.
2. In a new thread in the client’s folder, write: “@Claude read the Lumen Bakery folder and write a handoff for Nora.” Then choose **Send**.
3. When it’s right, choose **Share…** in the folder’s menu, add Nora’s email at **Can edit** and choose **Add**. She gets one email from ThreadPage with your name.

## Also

Without an API key, Claude or ChatGPT can draft the same handoff in its own chat through the app, and add it to the thread as a note.

## Limits

- @Claude and @GPT need an API key from Anthropic or OpenAI, and the provider bills the key for every answer.
- Ask before you share: in a shared thread a model answers only after you choose Allow here, and then reads only what is shared there.
- Everyone in a shared folder sees every note in it: keep anything only for you in a thread outside it.
- ThreadPage sends what the model reads to Anthropic or OpenAI with your key. Notes aren’t end-to-end encrypted.

Claude, GPT, ChatGPT, Anthropic, and OpenAI are the names of their owners. ThreadPage is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
