# Sharing

Share a thread or a folder with people by email, or with anyone who has its link. Sharing needs Pro and your account’s cloud copy; the people you share with don’t.

ThreadPage is for people aged 18 and over. We do not check age. Do not invite anyone under 18.

## Levels

**Can view**: read, copy, open and download files. **Can add notes**: also add notes, edit their own and move them to Trash. **Can edit**: also edit any note, rename the thread, change its status and add threads to a shared folder.

Only you archive, move, pin, restore and delete permanently, and only you change who has access.

## People and links

People you add by email open the place once they sign in with that address. With **Anyone with the link**, anyone who has the link can read without signing in; to add or edit notes they sign in once and join.

A link can be passed on. People who read with it without signing in don’t appear in your list. Turning link access off stops the link for everyone, and people who joined with it lose access unless you gave them their own level.

A shared folder includes its current and future threads and subfolders.

## Files

Everyone you share with gets your photos, videos and audio without location and camera details. That covers JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and GIF images of any size, HEIC and AVIF images up to 100 megapixels and 32,768 pixels on a side, and all video and audio. Other images, such as RAW, PSD, SVG or JPEG XL, and PDFs, documents and other files are shared as you added them, with any details inside. Photos, videos and audio that people add to your places are cleaned the same way when they’re stored, so you see them without these details too.

Someone reading with the link sees images and video posters; playing videos and opening other files is for people who have joined the place. Files people add to your places count toward your storage: see [Storage & backups](https://thread.page/help/storage.md#shared-places).

## Joining a place

When you join a shared thread or folder, or open an invitation, its owner sees your name and email, and the people there see your name next to what you add, as does anyone with the link while link access is on. The owner’s connected tools can read what you add, and if the owner chooses **Allow here** for an AI model, it goes to Anthropic or OpenAI too.

What you add stays in the place if you leave, and the owner can erase the place at any time.

## Leaving and stopping

Anyone can leave a place you shared; the notes they added stay in it. Stop sharing ends everyone’s access at once. Copies people made stay with them.

## Your connections

Your connections read shared places within the access you gave them. They add or change notes there only where you choose **Allow here**, and everyone with access sees those notes. Only you can send them a note with @.

## Working together

Fix a shared list in place. To disagree or change a decision, add a new note instead of rewriting someone else’s. A team working with a client can keep two places: an internal folder and a separate thread for the client.

## Report a problem

If a shared page is illegal or breaks our rules, use **Report this page** in it, or **Report…** in a note’s menu. You don’t need an account. [How reports work](https://thread.page/help/report.md)
