# Notifications

ThreadPage can notify you when you’re not in it. Turn notifications on in Settings → Notifications, in each browser where you want them.

## What notifies you

- Your reminders, when they come due.
- Your requests addressed with @, when one asks a question, replies or needs attention.
- New notes from other people in places shared with you.
- On Free, notes waiting in your Inbox.

Edits, renames, moves, status changes, invitations and your own notes never notify you. While you work in ThreadPage on one device, your other devices stay quiet.

## Mute and quiet hours

**Mute thread** or **Mute folder** stops notifications about what others add. You’ll find them in the menu wherever others can add notes: places shared with you, and your Inbox on Free. Reminders and your own requests still notify you.

**Quiet hours** in Settings → Notifications hold everything except reminders until they end; what waited then arrives silently, one per thread. Focus and Do Not Disturb on your device apply on top.

## Allow notifications in your browser

If your browser blocks notifications from ThreadPage, allow them for thread.page, then turn them on again in Settings → Notifications.

### Chrome

Click the icon to the left of the address, choose **Site settings** and set **Notifications** to **Allow**.

### Edge

Click the icon to the left of the address, choose **Permissions for this site** and set **Notifications** to **Allow**.

### Firefox

Click the icon to the left of the address and remove **Blocked** next to **Send notifications**. Then reload the page.

### Safari on Mac

Choose **Safari → Settings → Websites → Notifications** and set thread.page to **Allow**.

### iPhone and iPad

Notifications need ThreadPage on your Home Screen. In Safari, tap **Share**, then **Add to Home Screen**. Open ThreadPage from the Home Screen, sign in and turn notifications on in Settings → Notifications.

If you turned them off later, allow them in the device’s **Settings → Notifications → ThreadPage**.

## Notifications are on, but none appear

Choose **Send a test notification** in Settings → Notifications. If nothing appears within a few seconds, check these:

- **Mac:** open **System Settings → Notifications** and choose your browser (Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox). Turn on **Allow notifications**, choose **Banners** or **Alerts**, and turn on **Play sound for notification** to hear them.
- **Focus and Do Not Disturb** (Focus assist on Windows 10) hide notifications while they’re on.
- **Windows:** open **Settings → System → Notifications** and turn notifications on for your browser.
- **Your browser** must allow notifications from thread.page: see Allow notifications in your browser.
- While ThreadPage’s window is in front, it shows reminders itself, not as notifications. The test notification still comes.

## Where they arrive

With Pro, notifications reach every browser where you turned them on, except while you’re working in ThreadPage on another one.

On Free, a reminder reaches the browser that holds its thread. Places shared with you notify every browser where notifications are on.

Without an account, reminders show only while ThreadPage is open.

A browser on a computer must be running to receive notifications, except Safari on Mac and Edge on Windows. Chrome and Firefox keep a reminder for a day and show it when they start.
