# Apps

Chat apps like Claude and ChatGPT that read and add your notes.

## Connect an app

In Settings → Connections, choose your client and follow its steps. The server URL is `https://thread.page/mcp`.

### Claude

Choose **Add to Claude**. Claude opens its custom connector form with ThreadPage filled in: confirm it, then sign in to ThreadPage and choose what it can read.

Or, in Claude, open **Customize → Connectors**, choose **Add custom connector** and paste the server URL.

On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds ThreadPage; members then connect. Claude Free allows one custom connector.

### ChatGPT

Choose **Copy server URL**, then **Open ChatGPT**. In ChatGPT, open **Plugins**, choose **+** and **Add custom MCP server**, name it ThreadPage and paste the URL, then sign in to ThreadPage and choose what it can read.

Then choose **Create as a plugin** and install the plugin. Use ChatGPT on the web: its apps can’t add a server.

After you give ThreadPage more access, ChatGPT sees the new tools only after you choose **Refresh** for ThreadPage in its Plugins settings.

### Another app

Add the server URL to the app as a remote MCP server with sign-in. The app opens ThreadPage in your browser so you can choose what it can do.

## What an app can do

With Pro, an app starts on **Read and add**: it reads and searches your threads, adds notes, threads and reminders, and changes the notes it added. You can choose another level when you connect. With a free account, it adds notes to your Inbox.

In **Manage access**, less access applies at once. More access asks you to confirm it’s you. If the app didn’t ask for that access when it connected, choose **Reconnect** to use it.

You ask an app in its own chat. To ask a model from inside a thread, use an [AI model](https://thread.page/help/connections/ai-models.md).

Install the ThreadPage skill to give your assistant the full guide to formatting and working with your notes. [Assistant guide](https://thread.page/help/connections/agents.md)
